Alba M. Troiana, 97, died Sunday, August 24, 2003 at Palatka Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Born in Dunkin, W.Va., she lived in the Pomona Park area since 1943, coming from West Virginia. She was the lunch room manager at Pomona Park Elementary school from 1953 to 1957 and then worked as a nurse's aide at Putnam Memorial Hospital for many years. Later she did private duty nursing. She was an excellent gardener with the greenest thumb.
She moved to Palatka to live with her son and daughter-in-law in 1986. Following a stroke, she moved to Palatka Health Care center about twenty years ago. She became a big bingo fan and won the jackpot the night before she died. She was a member of the Crescent City No. 200 Order of the Eastern Star since October 1946, and Pilgrim Congregational Church in Pomona Park.
Mrs. Troiano was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: John Troiano.
She is survived by son: Wayne (Susan) Troiano, Palatka; grandchildren; Tracy Diana; John, Ashley, Kimberly and Brooks Troiano; six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 at Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home, Crescent City.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Weed officiating.
Burial will follow in Eden cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home.
