John Sims Beaty Retired Bookkeepter dies at home Sunday

John Sims Beaty retired bookkeeper of 115 St James Street died Sunday afternoon at his home after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in the chapel of the Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating were the Rev George R Cannon the Rev Melvin R Hyman, and the Rev Julius M Kirkland. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr Beaty son of the late Edgar Robert Beaty and Mrs Emma J Collins Beaty was born in Conway on May 18 1877. he had lived in Georgetown since youth and was a member of the Duncan Methodist Church. Mr Beaty was a bookkeeper for the old Atlantic Coast Lumber Company and for the last 32 years of his active life with CL Ford and Sons.

Surviving are a son Herbert Beaty of Grove Town Ga three daughters Mrs EK Anderson of Georgetown Mrs James A Campbell of Fort Lauderdale Fla and Mrs C LeRoy Bath of Plantersville six grandchildren three brothers E Norton Beaty and R Ernest Beaty both of Georgetown and Julian B Beaty of New York and three sisters Miss Louise Beaty and Mrs W Thomas both of Georgetown and Mrs Edna B West of Ruskin Fla and several nephews and nieces.
