Edgar Norton Beaty Retired Engineer Died Here Monday
Edgar Norton Beaty retired civil engineer and lumberman died at the Winyah Nursing Home Monday afternoon after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of the Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating were the Rev George R Cannon the Rev Melvin R Hyman and the Rev James W Covington. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr Beaty son of the late Edgar Robert Beaty and Mrs Emma J Collins Beaty was born in Conway on December 11 1878. He moved to Georgetown as a child and was graduated from the old Winyah Indigo Society School and attended the Citadel. Mr Beaty was a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers R Ernest Beaty of Georetown and Julian B Beaty of New York City; three sisters Miss Louise Beaty and Mrs W Henry Thomas Sr. both of Georgetown and Mrs Edna B West of Ruskin Fla and several nephews and nieces.
A brother John S Beaty died December 1.
