HARTINGTON - Hulda L. Becker, 98, Hartington, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the residence of her daughter, Jolene Leise, Hartington.

Visitation was Aug. 2 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Funeral services were Aug. 3 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.

Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington.

Pallbearers were Chuck Becker, Britt Becker, Gayle Becker, Kelly Pick, Bill Leise and Dan Leise.

Hulda was born March 26, 1906, to Peter and Ida (Kathol) Hochstein in Bow Valley. She grew up in the Bow Valley area and lived there until her marriage to Frank J. Becker June 9, 1925, in Bow Valley. She and Frank lived and farmed in the Hartington area until they retired from the farm in 1973. They moved into Hartington in 1978. Frank died Jan. 2, 1981, at the age of 78. Hulda had been living with her daughter, Jolene Leise, since December 2001. Hulda belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She loved to garden and crochet.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Roman "Bud" and Esther Becker, Hartington; Jolene and Harold Leise, Hartington; Alice and Marcel Lammers, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada; Marcel and Denelda Becker, Hartington; Kenneth and Sheree Becker, Hartington; 37 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; a sister, Erna Arens, Hartington; three brothers, Emery Hochstein, Hartington; Adrian Hochstein, Hartington; Merlin and his wife, Delores Hochstein, Wynot.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, infant Deila Velma Becker and LaVerne Pick; one son, David Becker; two grandsons, Steve Becker and Gary Pick; one great-granddaughter, Elli Leise; one great-grandson Brian Pick; seven brothers and two sisters.
