Freda J. Van Allen, 87, of 1415 North St., died at 2:08 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital. She was born May 19,1900, in Bay City, Mich., to Gus and Pauline Wendt Begick. She was married June 17, 1927, in Saginaw, Mich., to Francis R. Van Allen, who survives. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in various women's organization. She also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Also surviving are a son, Arthur, Indianapolis; a daughter, Nancy Martin, Indianapolis; two brothers, Adolph Begick, Bay City, Mich., and George Begick, Lansing, Mich.; a sister, Pauline Harding, Pontiac, Mich.; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and three sisters preceded in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Kroeger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a Trinity Lutheran Church Council service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
