Born Sept. 13, 1905 in Vernal, Utah to Franklin Abplanalp and Mary Ann Howard. Married Henry I. Slaugh July 9, 1923. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, he died April 4, 1987.Her life was dedicated to her family with a very special affection for her grandchildren. Member of the LDS Church and served a mission with her husband in Scotland, they were also temple workers. She had a special talent for writing poetry and knitting which she used for her many gifts. Kate especially enjoyed her garden and her many beautiful flowers. She worked for many years as a nurse to Dr. Stanley Neff, which she often said was her calling here on earth.
Survivors: Daughters, Betty and husband, Glen Alexander, Roosevelt; Carma Lea and husband, John Einerson, Orem; son, Glen H. and wife, Diana, West Jordan; special family members, Ellis and Dorothy Scheuer, Provo; brother, George Abplanalp, Copperton; sister, Doris Swain, Bothell, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 1993, 10 a.m. at the Hillside Ward, 495 East 5600 South. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St. and Saturday one-half hour prior to services at the church. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
