Delworth Stout

CEDAR CITY - Delworth Stout, 84, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, dad, and friend completed his task and passed the test returning to his heavenly home on December 18, 2007. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Workman Stout, sisters, Wealthy Heywood (Gardiner) and Vinetta Wright (Grant), brothers Clayton, Asel, Gordon, Alma, and Lloyd Stout, and grandsons Brian Delworth and Kevin Joseph Stout.

Surviving are two brothers, Kenneth, SLC, Utah and RDean, San Ramon, CA.

Immediate family survivors include wife, Alice Roberts Stout, Scottsdale, AZ, sons, David (Cyndi) Phoenix, AZ, D Ronald (Glenda) Layton, UT, James Alan (Lorie) Highland, UT, daughters Sharon Wright (George) Scottsdale, AZ, and Mary Jane McLain (Tom) Arlington, TX. He has 29 Grandchildren and 35 Great-Grandchildren.

Born February 21, 1923 in Hurricane, Utah where he attended school, serving as Student Body President in 1941. After attending Utah State in Logan for one year, he answered his country's call to serve. He was a 2nd Lt in the Army Air Corp during the 2nd World War. Marrying his sweetheart in the Mesa Temple on 15th June, 1945, Delworth & Alice started their married life with eternal commitments. They remained happily married for 62 years and look forward to an eternity together. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served as a Bishop, in a Stake Presidency and many other positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints touching many lives. He served with his sweetheart as a temple worker in the St. George and the Mesa Temple for 37 years before their release.
Always working hard with goals, direction, and a positive attitude, he worked as a service manager for Lunt Motor Co., moving to Arizona in 1961 to sell insurance. He moved on to own his own business and was a director for several agricultural companies. He loved his family, his church and music. He was an original member of the Master Singers in Cedar City, Utah. Many years of family trips in the car left memories of countless songs with his children. He continued to sing and hum up to the day he left us behind. He counted his blessings everyday and could be heard to say, "You have to just keep on keeping on."

Funeral services will be held December 27th, 2007 at 11:00 am with viewing prior from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Mountain Shadow's Ward building 6265 N. 82nd Street, Scottsdale, AZ. There will also be a viewing from 7-9p.m. the prior evening at the same location.

Internment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery in Cedar City, UT. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday Dec. 29 with viewing at Southern Utah Mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
