He was born September 13, 1894 in Meade County, a son of Barney Allen and Mrs. Anna Isabell (Hardin) Allen. He is survived by 10 daughters, Mrs. Mildred Adkisson, Mrs. Ruth Humphrey, Mrs. Annarita Benham, all of Brandenburg; Mrs. Neva Greer, Mrs. Marie Hardesty, Mrs. Rena Lou Humphrey, Mrs. Bonnie G. Wardrip, Mrs. Patsy Bruner, all of Battletown; Mrs. Loretta Fleming, Vine Grove; Mrs. Irene Hockman, Pleasure Ridge, KY; 4 sons, Alva, William, and Verland Allen of Brandenburg and James Allen of Battletown; 51 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Mr. Albert Allen of Payneville and 2 sisters, Mrs. Florence Brown of Brandenburg and Mrs. Mabel Hardesty of Louisville. Funeral services were held January 31st 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Payneville, conducted by Father Mark Deitzen. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Sturgeon Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Carl Allen, Barney Allen, Donald Allen, Joseph Allen, Roscoe Allen, and Richard Stull.
