Both Thelma and Paul were faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gonzales; Thelma was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and her husband, Paul was a Mason; Paul also served for many years as a Deacon of the church.
After her husband's death and as Thelma's health declined, she lived with her younger brother, Edward, and his wife, Dana, until her death in 1990 at the age of 92.
