Paul August Wenske was born 11 November 1893 in Karnes County, Texas s/o of August Wenske (1853-Abt 1900) and Matheid Wenske. August Wenske arrived in the United States from Germany in July 1882; Matheid arrived from Germany in 1879 at the age of eight with her parents. Paul Wenske married Thelma Schwab on 04 May 1916 in DeWitt County, Texas. Paul and Thelma had no children but raised Thelma's youngest brother Edward Schwab who was two-months old when Thelma's and Edward's mother died during the influenza pandemic of 1918/1919. Shortly after their marriage, Paul and Thelma moved to Gonzales where Paul was employed as a postal carrier for the U. S. Post Office until his retirement.
