"The people of this community were grieved and saddened beyond words Friday evening when it became known that Mrs. Allie McCalley, wife of Marvin McCalley, had passed away at her home southwest of Humphreys, after a few hours illness, at the age of 55 years and 11 months. She was a daughter of John M. West, who preceded her in death only a few months ago.

Mrs. McCalley was a member of the Christian church and lived a fine Christian life, as her words and deeds testify. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom survive, namely: Ralph McCalley, Mirth Pratt, Geraldine Eaton, Amber Humphreys and Chester McCalley. Two daughters died in young womanhood, Bethel Peterson and Lula Roach.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday p.m. by her pastor, Rev. O. O. Hunsaker of Galt. Interment was in the Humphreys cemetery." The Milan Republican (Milan, Missouri), December 8, 1932
