Alverra Olson, 88, died on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Trail, MN with Rev. Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow at Nazareth Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, April 3, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral at church on Saturday.

Alverra Kathleen Brumwell was born on September 16, 1920 at Northwood, ND the daughter of Milson and Gunhild (Larson) Brumwell. She was baptized on April 21, 1922 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. The family moved to Brooks, MN and later to Cisco, MN north of Erskine, MN where the family farmed.

During the war, Alverra moved to Grand Forks and went to work at Woolworth's. She later had the opportunity to go to work for the Olson Brothers farm in Hickory Township, Pennington County, MN. This is where she met her future husband Olaf Olson. The couple was married on June 1, 1946 at Oak Park Lutheran Church. To this union three sons were born: Myles, Wayne and Allen. They continued to farm throughout the years in Hickory Township. Following the death of her husband in 1999, she moved to the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN.

Alverra was a woman of many talents. She would raise chickens, up to 500 at a time. She enjoyed playing piano, gardening, canning, making quilts, painting pictures, woodworking, and was often found whistling while working. She was a great cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. In her earlier years, Alverra and Olaf enjoyed day trips in the area and they always planned a picnic for the trip. Alverra was best described a very kind, gentle lady.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide.

Alverra is survived by two sons, Myles (Jan) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN and Wayne (Pam) Olson of Crookston, MN; four grandchildren, Sara, Erick, Wade and Amy; sister, Violet Knaack of Red Lake Falls, MN; brother, Donald Brumwell of Erskine, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Olaf in 1999; son, Allen in 1970; sister, Joyce Schneider; brothers, Charles, Lloyd, Robert and Eugene.
