Violet Knaack of Red Lake Falls, MN 83, died May 11, 2013 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral Thursday, May 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, with Reverend John Bumgardner Officiating. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.

Visitation at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, and prior to services at the church.

Violet Louise Knaack was born April 21, 1930 daughter of Milson and Gunhild (Larson) Brumwell in Hatton, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church in Erskine, Minnesota.

On September 6, 1949 Violet was united in marriage to Vernon Alex Knaack at St. John Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls. The couple lived and farmed in Lake Pleasant Township near Red Lake Falls. She cared for Vernon's parents as well as Vernon's sister. They had 6 children. Violet worked for several years keeping the elementary school clean. She was a very creative and ambitious person. She had a "knack" for doing several things from cake decorating, to folk art painting, and quilting to name a few. She was known for her lefsa and baking. She organized and ran the Red Lake Falls Senior Citizens Center. She volunteered to help out wherever she could. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and volunteered with many community organizations, including Hillcrest Nursing Home, Sunset Court, American Legion Auxillary, and she served many years on the Board of Aging. Violet had a wonderful sense of humor which made her such a delight to be around. The latest club she belonged to was the Red Hat Society.

Violet is survived by 5 children, Lyle, Sharon, Bonita, Verna and Leslie, daughter-in-law Sonja; grandchildren Neil, Todd, Nicholas, Tracy, Ryan, Matt, Adam, Jesse, Rachel, Treva, Joshua and Seth: Great-grandchildren Parker, Khloe, Joseph, Grace, John, Paul, Maddie, Mena, Sully and Kiley; brother, Donald Brumwell of Erskine, several nieces and nephews.

Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, son, Kim, parents, sisters Joyce Schneider and Alverra Olson, brothers Eugene Brumwell, Robert Brumwell, Lloyd Brumwell & Charles Brumwell. Half siblings; Florence Skarperud, Maude Smestad, Walter Brumwell, Mary Baker, Harry Brumwell and Alice Nelson.
