CSA, Private, 22nd (Murray's) Battalion, Tennessee Infantry, Company E

MARRIED: (1) Elizabeth Ann Barnes 31 Aug 1854 Van Buren County, TN (2) Mattie Dudley

HIS PARENTS: Isaac Hillis, Sr. 1787-1876 and Rebecca Naylor 1789-1836

NOTE: The portrait was cropped from the original of Esquire Hillis, Sr. and his wife Mattie Hillis. It hung in the living room of my maternal grandparents: Esquire "Squire" Hillis, Jr. and Sarah Ellen (McPherson) Hillis. (They lived in New Market, Alabama) I wasn't sure what happened to all their pictures after they passed away. I just pray that the picture was returned to it's old frame, with names/dates on reverse and is being properly preserved for future generations.
