Isaac Hillis sr. the son of John Hillis.married 1st. Rebecca Naylor, 2nd wife Nancy Jane logue Boyd.Isaac came to the Rocky river area in about 1803 with sister Isabell Hillis Boyd, and brother James Hillis. Throughout his life Isaac sr. followed the occupation of farming . In 1840 he was elected constable of the 8th district of TN. and was appointed to a road jury. According to the 1840 Van Buren co. tax list he owned 386 arces of land. In 1870 census he was said to be 84 yrs. old and blind.

Isaac sr. is buried in the Blaxton oregon hillis cem. van beren co. tn, he married (1) Rebecca naylor in 1803, isaac sr. was 16 yrs.old and rebecca was 14 yrs. old when they married. Rebecca was the daughter of Dixon naylor and mary carpenter. She was born 18 june 1789 in spencer, van buren co. tn and died 30 august 1836 at the age of 27 yrs. in van buren co. tn,rebecca is buired in the rocky river cem. on goodbar rd. behind jerald paynes house at 2725 goodbar rd. warren co tn. He married (2)Nancy jane logue-boyd in 1839,in van buren co. tn nancy was 25 yrs. old and isaac sr. was 52 yrs. old when they married, she was the daughter of william logue and Hannah jobe. she was born 30 january 1814 in rocky river, van buren co. tn and died 30 november 1890 in van buren,tn Nancy is buired in the blaxton hillis cem. next to Isaac sr.

Isaac sr. came to rocky river about 1803, and was one of the first settlers of the area. The country round about this time was a vast cane brake. Bear was plentiful and deer and wild turkey abounded.Throughtout his life Isaac sr. followed the occupation of farming and was very successful. On coming to van buren co. he was accompanied by his brother, james hillis and sister Isabell hillis-boyd. His death occurred on 9 march 1877, in the house were Blaxstone oregan hillis cem. lived in 1921. by each of his two wifes isaac sr. had 21 children,.In politices he was a pronounced Democrat. Isaac sr. was elected constable of the 8th district of tn in 1840 and was also appointed to a road jury. According to the 1840 van buren co. tax list he owned 386 arces of land.
