Thomas Pate, who for many years has been a member of the Christ Church Parish, Biddeford, died 6 AM Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Tibbetts, 139 High Street, Biddeford. His age was 74 years and seven months. He was born in Staleybridge, England April 20, 1846, the son of Henry and Ellen (Ashton) Pate of Lancashire/Yorkshire, England. He came to this country 45 years ago and worked in the area mills. He and his wife came to this country on the steamboat, S.S. Hecla, landing Sept. 17, 1872. He was known for his genial manner and was well liked by everybody.
He was pre-deceased by his wife whom he had married on Oct. 12, 1866. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Tibbetts, four sons, Elwell, James, Thomas, and Henry Pate all of Biddeford. His internment is in Woodlawn Cemetery, Biddeford.
