The name DEARDORFF has several variations including Deardorf, Dierdorf, Dearduff, Deerdorf, and Deardoff. For the purposes of this research, DEARDORFF is used since it appears to be the name most used by descendants of Henry.

Henry DEARDORFF was born in Pennsylvania, the son of Peter and Christiana Anna (SWYER) DEARDORFF. According to Mennonite records, Henry's father Peter DEARDORFF removed his family [from Pennsylvania] to Bedford Co., Virginia in 1790.

Henry married twice, both times in Bedford County, Virginia:

Henry DEARDORF[sp.] m.1) Margarett WATSON on Mar. 20, 1798, by James Turner; James WATSON and Fendall CRUMP, Sureties.

Henry and Margaret (WATSON) DEARDORFF had 3 children before her death in 1802 in Bedford Co., Virginia. Their children:
- John DEARDORFF - John married and removed to Iowa
- Jacob DEARDORFF - Jacob married and became a police officer in Jamestown [Greene County, OH] where he was stabbed to death in 1823
- Elizabeth DEARDORFF - Elizabeth married 3 times and, at some point, removed to Texas.

Henry m.2) Edna THORNHILL on 2. Nov. 22, 1802 by James Turner, Nov. 23, 1802; James THORNHILL, Surety. Henry [and Edna] remained in Bedford Co., Virginia until 1813 when they removed to Greene County, Ohio.
Their children:
- William DEARDORFF - died at the Alamo
- Henry DEARDORFF died in 1852
- Margaret DEARDORFF died in 1888, a spinster
- Sarah DEARDORFF - married a HUBBARD and died in 1884
- Matilda DEARDORFF - married a MOORE and removed to Indiana
- Hannah DEARDORFF - married a ROBINSON and removed to Texas
