"Margaret DEARDORF was the daughter of Henry and Edna 'Edney' (THORNHILL) DEARDORF. She was born about 1822 and never married. She was sharing a home with younger siblings in 1850, namely Sarah 25, Henry 23, and Matilda 22.

According to an article published in the Xenia Daily Gazette, 29 October 1887, page 1:

"By 180_ Sarah [DEARDORF] had married Anson John Charles HUBBARD. Sarah was widowed before they [Margaret and Sarah] were listed together in the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Federal Census records.

The days of Old: Recalled by a Visit to The DEARDUFF Home Near Jamestown
"The Jamestown Tribune says that Miss Margaret DEARDUFF, an 80 year old spinster and recluse, living about three miles down the pike, from Jamestown, is at the point of death. She has not been off her farm for probably fifteen years. She, with her sister who died a few years ago, had led the life of hermit[s], never going any place and seldom seeing anybody. The old lady has in her possession many articles of wearing apparel that call back the early fashions of our country. Also a number of primitive contrivances that long since have been displaced by modern devices, and which would be a novel sight to the younger class of the generation. There is probably no other home in the country that has retained so much that is suggestive of bygone days as the DEARDUFF residence."
