Mr. Bartley was born on a farm two miles south of Hams Prairie and had lived in that neighborhood all his life. He engaged in agricultural pursuits until about six months ago when he moved to his house in Hams Prairie, his daughter Miss Ruth Bartley, living with him and looking after the household affairs.
Mr Bartley was favored with a most kindly disposition and ained friends by the score by his happy demeanor . He was always in good spirits, ready to match his wits with anyone and his sunny disposition was the means of making eople around him look on the bright side of life. He was a hard and conscientious worker on the farm and in every sense of the word was a first class citizen.
Mr Bartleys wife died several years ago. He is survived by four children: Groves of Mokane; Gooch, east of Fulton; Bland of Hams Prairie; and Miss Ruth Bartley, who lived with her father. Also two brothers, Joe Bartley of Earl and Will Bartley of Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held in the Hams Prairie Methodis Church friday morning with burial in the cemetery of that place. Mr Bartley was a member of the Mokane Masonic Lodge.
