OBITUARY - Fulton Gazette - Dec 25 1924 - JOSEPH DAVIS BARTLEY DEAD - Joseph Davis Bartley,.84 years old, died at the Callaway Co. Hospital Monday afternoon at 3:30. He was taken suddenly ill while at the Glenn-Maughs garage and in about a half hour was taken to the hospital. He died soon after reaching there, his death being attributed to heart trouble. Funeral services were held at Hams Prairie Christian Church , Wednesday morning at 10:30 . Burial was in the Hams Prairie Cemetery. He was born in Callaway Co, November 28, 1840 and had lived here all his life. At the time of his death , he was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Wallace Coons, of the Earl neighborhood. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bartley. During the Civil War , he served with the Confederate forces. He is survived by two children: Mrs. Coons and Mrs George E Jameson of Portland, Oregon. His wife, Mrs Sallie A. Bartley died several years ago and one son, Braxton Bartley died in 1894. Three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren are also living. The grandchildren are: Lucy L. Bartley of Tebbetts; Mrs Matt Wymore of Fulton; David McDaniel of San Francisco and the great grandchildren are David McDaniel Jr. of San Francisco and Joseph W. Bartley of Tebbetts. Mr Bartley was a man of generous impulses , upright in his dealings with his fellow man and of kindly disposition.
