John D. Meador, 70, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1970, in an Alexandria hospital. He was a native of Arkansas, a resident of Winnfield, and a retired store keeper.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie C. Meador of Winnfield; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Meador of Canton, Ga.; two brothers, Tom Meador of Joyce and Jack Meador of Grayson; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Martin and Mrs. Hettie Streetman, both of Joyce and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Hixson's Funeral Home in Winnfield with Rev. Thomas Cox and Rev. Harrison Cockerham officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery near Joyce. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 of Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Eddie Vallery, Esley Smith, Hardy Smith, Fletcher Melton, C. E. Sherwood, and Bob Baker.
