On Dec. 18, 1946, in Young America, she married Harry J. Michael, who preceded in death on July 20, 2006.
Kathleen was a homemaker. She was a former Sunday School teacher for 25 years and a member of Clymers United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women's Society of the church. Kathleen was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Deer Creek Order of Eastern Star and was a 1946 graduate of Deer Creek High School.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Lynn) Michael, Camden, and Bill (Nancy) Michael, Camden; two brothers, Harold "Pork" (Marsha) Appleton, Walton, and Charles (Carolyn) Appleton, Burrows; brother-in-law, Bernard Slusser, Logansport; three sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Downhour, Walton, Shelby Appleton, Logansport, and Jean Appleton, Burrows; five grandchildren, Shelley (Jeff) Edmondson, Terra Haute, Greg (Maggie) Michael, Rossville, Brad (Amie) Michael, Greenood, Ryan (Chrissy) Michael, Lafayette, and Kris (Amy) Michael, Fishers; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Robert Appleton, Joe Appleton, Tom Appleton, and one sister Jane Slusser.
A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Gundrum Funeral Home, with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Logansport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
