Opal Lois Appleton, 88, Rt 2 Camden died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday at St Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.

Born July 7 1903 in Cass County, she was the daughter of Harold and Sadie Urich Gray. In August 1923 she married Jay Appleton who died March 9 1971

Mrs Appleton was a homemaker. She was a member of Clymers United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Michael of Rt 2 Camden, and Jane Slusser of Rt 2 Logansport; four sons, Joe of Rt 2 Logansport, Thomas of Rt 3 Delphi, Charles of Burrows and Harold of Rt 1 Walton; one brother Vernie Gray of Huntington; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

One brother, two sons and one grandson preceded in death.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Grundrum Funeral Home, with the Rev Thomas Crum officiating and burial will be in St Johns Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions mar be made to Clymers United Methodist Church.
