Jay J. Appleton,70, retired farmer, of Rt 2 Camden died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. He had been in poor health for two years.

Born in Carroll County Feb 7 1901, he was the son of Dallas D and Cora Benner Appleton. His marriage on Aug 19, 1923 was to Opal Gray who survives. He was a member of the Clymers United Methodist Church.

Five sons and two daughters survive. They are Robert J and Joe W, both of Rt 2 Logansport, Harold L of Rt 3 Logansport; Thomas L of Rt 3 Delphi; Charles B of Burrows; Mrs Kathleen G Michael of Rt 2 Camden and Mrs. Mary Jane Slusser of Rt 2 Logansport.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One son and one grandson preceded him in death. Other survivors include three sisters; Mrs Chloe Porter of Rt 2 Logansport; Mrs Ethel Slagle of Burrows and Mrs Mary Willy of Camden.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sullivan Funeral Home. Services will be there at 1:30 Friday. The Rev Greg Stevens and the Rev Louis Ruman will officiate. Burial will be in St Johns Cemetery.
