Charlotte Nellie Kearns (last name spelled various ways) was also called Charlotta, Malotta, and Lottie. She was the fourth child out of 7 to be born to George Washington Kearns and Julia Ann Kinnamon. She married Charles Edward Tipton. Charlotte and Charles were united in marriage on Dec 25, 1890 in Lyons TWP/Whiting, Monona CO., Iowa. Charles & Charlotte had 8 children. One of her children, Maynard Tipton died as a baby in 1896.

Charlotte was known to be a midwife to many mothers on "Flower's Island" which is a remote island just off the Iowa and Nebraska's Missouri River. Charlotte later contracted the flu and her heart became inflamed causing death from acute myocarditis.
