Memorial services for Lois Jane Newhouse, 82, of Coos Bay will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Coos Bay First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Chris E. von Lobedan will officiate. Private cremation was at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory. She was born on March 23, 1919 in Raton, New Mexico to Earl Knox and Edna (Orin) Littrell. She died on September 22, 2001 at St. Catherine's Alzheimers Center. She graduated from Marshfield High School with the Class of 1937 and Oregon State University with the Class of 1942. She married Andrew John Newhouse on July 19, 1942 in Coos Bay. She was a member of American Association of University Women, Chapter EL of PEO, Progress Club and Coos Bay First Presbyterian Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, a lifelong learner and an avid traveler. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Lucille Birch; her brothers, Earl Knox Littrell, Jr., Marion Orin Littrell, and John Elijah Littrell; and a grandson. She is survived by her husband, Andrew; her daughters, Kathryn Louise Newhouse of North Bend, Mary Jane Sheldon of Olympia, Washington, and Elizabeth Ann Olson of Lake Oswego; her son, Thomas Andrew Newhouse of Portland; her brother, Robert Thornton Littrell of Alameda, California; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
