Death of F. M. Parks
F. M. Parks of Colburn, Texas died February 27, 1898. He had been confined to his room for more than three months and during his last days was a great sufferer. He leaves a wife and five children, besides a host of friends.
The subject of this sketch was born in Calhoun County, Alabama, March 1,1839, moved with his parents to Texas when a youth. April 21,1964 he married Miss Susan McClanahan. To them were born nine children. At the announcement of the late war he joined the Confederate army where he served bravely until the close of the war. Mr. Parks possessed a religious turn of mind and at the tender age of fifteen years united with the Baptist church where remained until his death. He lived a consistent Christian life as well in his family and neighborhood as in the church. His only regret at his departure was the separation from his family. The writer extends to the bereaved family the most heartfelt sympathies. A Friend
