Willie Lee Burns was the fourth of ten children born to D.L.Burns and Cora Willis Wilson. He married Corine McDonald in 1949 in Austin, Texas. Six children were born to this union. They were divorced in 1963. After that he traveled around quite a bit. He was in LA, Calfornia, in Phoenix, AZ, and in the Dallas area for sometime. He loved the latest big flashy cars and the hottest styles in clothes. He liked big hats, new shoes and bright colors. In 1970 he returned to the home of his parents for the Christmas holiday. On Christmas evening he went out to celebrate with his brother-in-law, Fred Lackely. He was shot during a night club fight. He died two weeks later at Breakenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Roberta. He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Superintendent D.L. and Cora Burns, his estranged wife Coriene, his children, Rodrick, Willie Lee Jr, Jeanette, Roger, Eda Mae, Clifton, and Willie Mae, his sisters, Freddie Mae, Lillie Bee, Bobbie Lee, Dorothy Marie, Shirley Jean, his brothers, Louis, D.L. Jr, Curtis, many neices, nephews, and many friends.
