Arthur Backen, 56, town of Dunn resident, died suddenly Wednesday night at Downsville while attending a wedding dance.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Louisville Church, Dr. Norris Olson officiating. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery, Downsville.
Mrs. Backen was born January 13, 1893 at Eagleton. He was the son of Mrs. Richard Peterson and lived most of his live in and around Downsville.
He was married February 25, 1925 to Velma Bailey who survives with one son; Ervin with the Coast Guard at Mayport, Florida, and one daughter, Alice, at home. One son, Alvin was killed on Okinawa in World War II.
Mrs. Backen also leaves one brother, Olaf, Waterloo, Iowa and two half brothers, Albert Peterson, Downsville, and George Peterson, Waterloo, Iowa.

Arthur is the son of Ole and Anna (Brostrom) Backen and grandson of Nicholas and Louisa (Dahlberg) Brostrom and the 1st Cousin 1 time removed of Robert Fagerlind married Carol Strayer's 3rd Cousin Elmonda Johnson.
