"Death of Jacob Martin -- Jacob Martin, a former resident and citizen of this county, died at his home in Clearspring, York County, Penna., December 31st, 1890, aged 81 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was born near this place and lived in this county for about fifty years and was widely known both here an at his late home. He was of a genial disposition and had many friends, old and young, who visited him during his illness and did all in their power for his comfort and welfare. He was the father of Rev. Wm. Landers Martin of this place, and Messrs. J. Ed. and Joseph C. Martin, also from here. The funeral which was largely attended, was conducted by Rev. Oliver Diller, who preached an appropriate sermon from Rev. 14:13. He passed away in peace, dying in the faith. His body was interred at Gardner's U. B. Church cemetery, Adams Co., Pa. on Jan. 3rd."
