Matilda Yonson was born August 24, 1812, in Mechanicstown (now Thurmont), Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Henry and Catharina Sophia Stauffer Yonson (Jansen). On February 13, 1832, she married Jacob Martin, son of Christian and Maria Magdalena Wilhide Martin. They were the parents of 9 children: William H., John Edward, Margaret Ann Elizabeth, David Sheeler, Joseph C., Mary Catherine M., Caroline P. V., William Landers, Julia W. R., G. Winten W. and Vincent Keefer Martin. Matilda Yonson Martin was my great-great-grandmother.

"March 29th, 1859, Matilda Martin wife of Jacob Martin buried Mechanicstown. Aged 46 years, 7 months and 4 days."
