Visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Bailey Foster Funeral Home in Grapeland, Texas.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, November 11, at Grapeland Church of
Christ. Interment will follow the service at Livelyville Cemetery in
Grapeland.

Lewis was the sixth child of eleven born to George Thomas Smith and Maude Cunningham Smith on October 6, 1914, in Grapeland, Texas. He grew up in Grapeland and married Lucille on October 1, 1932, and together they lived in
Grapeland until moving to Galveston in 1941.

Lewis worked for Texas Bus Lines until 1948, at which time he started working for Union Carbide, retiring December 31, .1976. After retirement, Lewis and Lucille moved back to Grapeland, where Lewis went into ranching and lived in Grapeland until August 2002, at which time Lewis and Lucille
moved to Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Darrell
Smith; four brothers: John Smith, Irving Smith, Earl Smith, and Robert Smith; and one sister, Elvira Cook.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Lucille Skidmore Smith; four children, Ralph Clifton Smith and wife Fran of Omega Bay, Texas; Gerald Lewis Smith and wife Patsy of Dickinson, Texas; Karen Ann Smith Fullen and
husband Bill of Galveston; and Donald Carroll Smith and wife Sandra of
Dickinson; four sisters: Ruth Quinn of Pasadena, Texas; Mada Lou Skidmore of Nacogdoches, Texas; Hazel Norman of Montgomery, Alabama; and Virginia Wooten of Houston, Texas; one brother, W. D. Smith of Grapeland, Texas; ten
grandchildren, eighteen greatgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces, nephews, and other close relations.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Billy Fullen, Clif Smith, Brad Fullen, Baxter Smith, Randy Jones, and Jose Palmer.

The family wishes to thank AMED Community Hospice of Texas City, Malloy & Son Funeral Home of Galveston and Bailey Foster Funeral Home in Grapeland,
Texas, for all of their help and kindness.
