John married Hannah Burk (1789-1871) in c1808 in Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. It is reported that Hannah was an "English" lady who was disowned by her family for marrying a German. John and Hannah were the parents of six known children, namely:
1. Catherina M. Nading Blum (1809-1885)
2. Alexander Nading (1812-1903)
3. Dulcina Nading (1820-1820)
4. Phebe Elisabeth Nading Boner (1821-1889)
5. Sarah Belinda Nading (1825-1828)
6. Antoinette Nading Reich (1829-1889)
