Christian Nading was the fifth of seven known children of Mattheus (Mathews) Nading (1756-1807) and Eva Catharina Volz (became Foltz) Nading (1762-1845), who married 10 Jun 1783 at Friedberg, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Christian married Nancy Anna (went by Anna) Ledford (1801-1865) in c1821 in North Carolina. Christian and Anna were the parents of nine known children, six girls and three boys. It is thought that all nine of the children lived to maturity. There may be an additional two daughters who were born c1825 to 1830, based on the 1830 census record.

The nine known children were:

1. Rosena Nading Miller (1822-1904)
2. Emily Nading Ruede (1824-1861)
3. Biddie Carmelia Nading Hauser Hall (1828-1910)
4. Sarah Louvenia Nading Smith (1830-1908)
5. William A. Nading (1833-1892)
6. Henry A. Nading (1837-1906)
7. Mary Ann Nading Glenn (1837-1915)
8. Sanford H. Nading (1841-1929)
9. Celestia Lucinda Nading (1842-1920)

A total of 35 grandchildren have been identified for Christian.

The youngest child Celestia Lucinda was still living in 1860. Some records show she died in 1861 (or was this confused with her sister Emily?). Other records show she (C. L. Nading) married R. E. (or B.E.? perhaps Bayluse Edwin Parish, 1844-1903; Find-A-Grave Memorial #78498393) Parish on 24 Mar 1868 at Yadkin County, North Carolina. Does anyone know anything about Lucinda?
