Died, at his residence near Waynesboro, on Tuesday morning last, Mr. Edward H. Blount, aged 62 years. On Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, his remains were conveyed to the Methodist church in this place, and after appropriate service - Rev. Mr. Davis, of the baptist church officiating - thence was borne to the cemetery, followed by a long procession of mourning freinds. Mr. Blount was an honored citizen of Burke county for many years; and while we feel sad because of his departure, we fondly entertain the hope that he claims citizenship in a higher and purer clime.
- obit information from DianaB
Since the paper is from 1873 and the obit says he was 62 years old at death, the headstone appears to have the incorrect death date on it.
Edward was the son of Eliza E. Winn and Stephen W. Blount.
