George was the tenth and last child born to Susannah Mayfield and her husband Martin Bullock. Both of his parents died before he was 19 years old. In 1880 he was unmarried, a farm laborer in Turman Township, where he grew up. By 1910 he was still unmarried, living and farming with others in Fairbanks Township, Sullivan County, Indiana. On December 22, 1919, his brother Clifford put him into the Sullivan County Poor House & Asylum located in Sullivan, in Hamilton Township. This was a place that took care of elderly folks who had no one else to care for them. He died there on a Sunday at 12 noon of Atrophie Cirrhosis of Liver and was buried the next day, March 8th.

His grandparents were John W Mayfield and Edith "Edie" Brandon Mayfield on his mother's side.

He is a great uncle to James Russell Lowell Bullock.
