Ivan L. Bailey, 59, died April 9, 1985. He was born November 26, 1925 in Gainesville, the son of Claude and Gladys Mattison Bailey. He had been an active Boy Scout and was a scoutmaster for many years. He served during World War II with the US Navy as a Lance Cpl. aboard the USS Louisville, USS Pocomoke and USS Sanctuary. He was a of Wyoming County Veterans Club, Castile American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Tinney Bailey, whom he married in 1946; two sisters, Beatrice (Henry) Tisdale, Madeline (Alfred) White; a foster daughter, Darcy Perkins; nieces and nephews. His only son, Joseph T. Bailey lost his life in Vietnam in 1968. Services were at Weeks Funeral Home with full military honors burial in Maple Grove.
