Mrs. Gladys Matteson Bailey, 65, of Gainesville died unexpectedly in her home June 23, 1966. She was born April 7, 1901 in Silver Springs to Archie and Lilian Houck Matteson. She and her husband wed on Christmas Day. She was a former employee of the Brown-Century Knitting Company Company and was on the custodial staff of Letchworth Central School retiring in 1965. Survivors include her husband, Claude; a son, Ivan (Arlene); two daughters, Betty (Henry) Tisdale, Mickey (Alfred) White, all of Gainesville; two brothers, Harry Matteson of Blossburg, Pa., Alvin Matteson of San Jose, Ca.; a sister, Dorothy Bacquet of Denver, Co.; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the funeral home with Rev. Glenn Peppleton, pastor of Gainesville Methodist officiating with burial at Maple Grove.
