Harry N. "Hen" Baker, 80, a former insurance agent who lived at 205 Sundra Ave., died Monday evening at the Duke Convalescent Residence after a long illness.
He was the husband of Helen M. Waltman Baker. The couple observed their 56th wedding anniversary in October.
Baker worked for the Metropolitan Life, John Hancock Mutual Life and the Colonial insurance companies. He later worked as a messenger for the former Berks Optical Co. before he retired in 1971. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Nathan H. and Esther Gruel Baker.
Surviving besides his wife are a stepmother, Jennie G. Baker, Neffsville; a son, Donald J., Lancaster; two grandsons; eight sisters: Catherine E. Sener, Bellingham, Wash., and M, Esther, wife of Arthur Lamparter; Mary E., wife of Russell Schober; Dorothy M. Kurtz; Sarah L., wife of John H. Thatcher; Dawn M., wife of Charles Herr; Nancy J., wife of Anthony Vital; and Barbara A., wife of Charles Colson, all of Lancaster; and three brothers: M. Luther, Columbia; Charles F., Lancaster; and John W., Strasburg.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David L. Gockley officiating. Interment in Riverview Burial Park. Friends may call at the Gundel Funeral Home, 415 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Those wishing may contribute in Mr. Baker's memory to the Memorial Fund of Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA 17603.
