ROBERT A. HENSLEY, 74

Robert A. Hensley, 74, Shamrock Lakes Estates, died Friday evening, July 5, 2002, at the AmeriCare Living Center of New Castle after an extended illness.

He was born January 25, 1928, in Muncie, to Arthur Franklin and Naomi Leveda Stephens Hensley. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1946 and was a member of the 906th Ordnance Ammunition Co., Fort Bragg, N.C., during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Hensley was employed with Indiana and Michigan Power Co., now American Electric Power Co. in the Muncie, Portland, Hartford City and Deer Creek offices for 41 years before his retirement on January 29, 1988.

Mr. Hensley loved to build and fly R/C airplanes and was a member of the R/C airplane club in Converse.

Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ellen Lee (husband: Robert), New Castle; a son, Jeffery A. Hensley (wife: Kate), Greenfield; four grandchildren, Brad Hensley (wife: Cherish), Yorktown, Danielle Hensley, Muncie, Robert D. Lee, Muncie, and Sarah Ott, Greenfield; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Ford (husband: Max), Redkey, and Nila Jean Dragoo, Cammack; his brother, David E. Hensley (wife: Sharon), Royerton; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife of 51 years, Joann J. Hensley, March 19, 2002.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery Chapel, North of Muncie, with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary in Muncie from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
