David Edward Hensley, 82 of Yorktown, died Tuesday morning, December 6th, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 9th, 1934 in Muncie and was the son of the late Arthur & Naomi (Stephens) Hensley.
David retired from Borg Warner as an engineer after 31 years of service. He was also a self-employed contractor as well. David was a member of the Moose Lodge #33 and the New Castle Elks Lodge. He loved to go to Canada fishing. David enjoyed helping people and working on his building projects. He loved being outdoors and working on his grandfather Stephen’s farm every summer was among his favorite memories.
David is survived by his wife Ellen Ruann Hensley of Yorktown; his children Jill Young (Paul) of Muncie, Barbara Turner (Rick) of Yorktown, Margaret Hensley of Muncie, Shari Potter (John) of Sweetser, Leslie Cowan of Muncie, Kevin Reed of New Jersey, and Dr. Tod Reed (Angie) of Muncie; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years Sharon Hensley; sister Ruby Ford, brother Robert Hensley, and sister Nila Jean Dragoo.
Funeral Services for David were held Friday, December 9th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Vise officiating. Burial in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
