At the age of 37, on Monday, 1 March 1920 in Vigo County, Indiana Oscar married Bertie Maude Davis. They remained in the Terre Haute area at various locations throughout their marriage (655 N Water Street, 646 N 1st Street, 424 Harding Ave, 1418 S 1st Street, 1503 N 2nd Street, 409 S 1st Street, 1501 Harding Ave, and 900 Harding Ave). During this time, Oscar held several positions as laborer and packer for Sparks Milling Company.

Time of death was not identified on his death certificate and is unreadable on his obituary. Oscar was interred at Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday, 7 June 1958.
Terre Haute Tribune - Oscar Barrett, 75, of 400 South First Street, died at St. Anthony Hospital at am Thursday. Surviving are four sons, Paul and William, both of Terre Haute, Jack of Chicago and Sgt James Barrett serving in the US Army in Germany; three sisters, Mrs Virginia Ondivick of Chicago, private living, and Mrs Alice Moore, both of Terre Haute; three grandchildren & several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Ball Porter Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30am Saturday. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. (pg 15 Friday, 6 June 1958)
