Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Peters Funeral Home for Don C. Crawford, 87, of Wasco, who passed away Feb. 26. Rev. Wayne Montgomery of the Christ Community Church will officiate and interment will follow at the Wasco Memorial Park.

Don was born April 15, 1900, to Bascom and Magdalene Crawford at Stephenville, Texas. He continued to live in Texas until 1917 when he moved to California and started working in the oil fields in Long Beach.

In 1922 he wrote a letter to a young lady named Addie Pearl Hawkins of Texas whom he had attended school with. They had written to each other frequently, but this letter was special because in it Don asked Addie to come to California to marry him. Addie moved to California to check things out and after her okay they were married March 26, 1922. In 1930 they moved to Wasco and raised a family on their farm. Addie passed away Jan. 17, 1985.

Don was a member of the Wasco Masonic lodge.

Surviving family includes two sons, Emery of Wasco and David of Oklahoma; two daughters Vada Bowles of Wasco and Doris Bunch of Virginia; two brothers, Ronnie of El Monte and Charlie; four sisters, Corrine Crawford, Ina Coleman, Odessa Ruiz and Sadie Burr; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
