OBITUARY Iron River Reporter March 13 1958 “Ice Lake Man Dies At His Home”
IRON RIVER-John Johnson, 70, resident of Iron county for more than 50 years, died at 8:30 last night at his Ice lake farm home following an illness of three months.
Born here on Feb. 17, 1888, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Johnson, who were among the early settlers in the Ice Lake area.
Mr. Johnson had conducted a dairy farm with his brother, the late Robert Johnson, for many years.
He leaves his wife Signe; two sons, George and Harvey; three brothers, Andrew and Charles of Iron River and Walter of Two Rivers, Wis.; four sisters, Mrs. Arthur Johnson, Ice Lake, Mrs. Hilda Erickson, Iron River, Mrs. Maggie Olson, Hibbing, Minn. and Mrs. Edna Miller of Samoset, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 tomorrow afternoon at the Johns Funeral home. Elder Trecartin of the Iron Mountain Seventh Day Adventist church and the Rev. Leonard W. Lindholm, interim pastor of the Stambaugh Mission Covenant church, will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven cemetery.

CASPIAN-The Iron County Historical and Museum Society elected to honor members Harvey and Alice Johnson as historians of the year at the Michigan Week Banquet May 21. Harvey is the son of the late Jack and Signe Johnson, Ice Lake pioneers.

John Johnson and Miss Seina [Sena] Johnson and Arthur Johnson and Miss Mary Johnson were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony at Crystal Falls yesterday. This quartette of Johnsons are well known young people of Bates, all four belonging to three pioneer families of the township.
It is certainly a unique blending together of three different families, neither bride having to change her name.
Mrs. John Johnson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Johnson and is a graduate of the Iron River high school. Mrs. Arthur Johnson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Johnson and sister of John Johnson, while Arthur Johnson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Johnson.
