OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Feb 18 1960 "Brief Illness Is Fatal To Andy Johnson"
Andrew Johnson, a resident of the Iron River district for over 75 of his 80 years, died Saturday morning at Stambaugh General hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 2, 1879 in Sweden and came to the United States a few years later with his parents. They settled in the Iron lake area and later moved to Ice lake where he lived since.
He worked all his life as a woodsman and miner in this district. He last worked at the Pickands Mather & Co. Davidson mine where he retired in 1945.
Mr. Johnson is survived by: four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Olson of Hibbing, Minn., Mrs. Edna Miller of Samoset, Fla. and Mrs. Mary Johnson and Mrs. Hilda Erickson of Iron River; a brother Walter Johnson of Two Rivers, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Johns-Fell chapel in Iron River. The Rev. Earl H. Berndtson, pastor of First Lutheran church, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven cemetery.
