The graveside service for Raymond Nathaniel McCoy, 68, 802 Cottonwood St., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Phillips Cemetery, northwest of Reading. The Rev. Jerry Clark of Eureka will conduct the service.
Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association may be sent to the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
He was a sanitation truck driver for the city of Abilene before he retired in 1991. He moved to Emporia in 1996. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sargeant and served in Africa and Korea.
Raymond Nathaniel McCoy, the son of Johner Nathaniel and Edith Bohard McCoy, was born Juy 16, 1931, at Sedan. He was reared in Greenwood County.
He married Delia Alberta Murphy on Aug. 11, 1953, at San Angelo, Texas. She died March 16, 1992.
Mr. McCoy is survived by four sisters, Alice Lamb of Americus, Opal Hoyt of Topeka, Frances Smith of Towanda and Dorothy Guzman of Pinon Hills, Calif.; a brother, Daniel McCoy of Haughton, LA; and a grandson reared by Mr. McCoy, Martin Kirkley, of the home. A daughter, Nellie Ruth Kirkley, and two sisters died earlier.
