Stewart R. Albright

YORK - Stewart R. 'Abe' Albright, 90, formerly of Spring Grove and Nashville, died peacefully at 3:20 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009, at Normandy Ridge in York. He was the husband of Edna M. (Warrenfeltz) Albright. The couple recently observed 51 years of marriage on December 21, 2008.
The funeral service for Mr. Albright will be held in celebration and thanksgiving for his life at 12 p.m. on Thursday at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd., York, with his pastors, the Rev. Paul W. and the Rev. Sara A. Gausmann officiating. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday at the church. He will be laid to rest in St. Paul's (Wolf's) Church Cemetery following the service.
Stewart was born February 8, 1918, one of ten children of the late Franklin C. and Daisy S. (Nace) Albright.
He retired from the pulp department of P.H. Glatfelter Company in Spring Grove following more than 32 years of loyal employment as a paper maker. Abe was a member of the Glatfelter Quarter Century Club and a member of the Nashville Volunteer Fire Company. He was a faithful member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in York.
In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by two step-sons, Charles A. Earnst of Spring Grove, and Barry L. Earnst of Thorn Hill, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Rev. Lou Ann Jones of Spring Grove; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Dorothy Smith of York.
Stewart was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, William, Raymond, and Albert Albright; four sisters, Bertie Grote, Florence Blouse, Vergie Waltemyer, and Minnie Shearer; and a stepson, Preston R. Earnst, Jr.
