On December 9th Mrs. Lackey had a severe heart attack from which she never fully recovered, and the cause of her death was a body worn too weak from suffering to stand a siege of pneumonia.
She leaves three children, James M., and Gussie Mae of the home address and Thomas F. of Pressonville, Kas., also one stepdaughter, Leona, of Colorado Springs, Colo. Three grandchildren, Irene, Billy and Keith Lackey, of Pressonville. Three step grandchildren, Madelyne and Louise Buchanan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Buster Buchanan of the home address. She is also survived by two brothers, Tom and Henry Barkley of Pasadena, Calif.
She joined the church in early childhood and kept the faith until the last.
She was married to John L. Lackey, March 4, 1891, at Statesville, N.C., and shortly afterward moved to Kansas where she lived on the same farm more than 40 years. Her husband preceeded her in death Sept. 19, 1935.
She was a kind and loving mother and was known to her friends as a cheerful giver, and was always more happy to give than receive.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in Spring Hill and burial was in the Spring Hill cemetery beside her husband.
