I'm Sophie's first cousin, twice removed.
According to family information collected years ago by cousins of hers, and published in "The Pierre Gerardy Family in America," Sophie was born April 1, 1880, in "near Geary" (i.e, in Wayne township), Doniphan County, Kansas, and died Sept. 21, 1950, at Wathena, Doniphan, Kansas. There should be several other Gerardys buried in Rosedale.
As for places of her birth and death, I still suggest you put it in the vitals, then have a note if you want saying it was provided by me. Including the places makes it easier for people to find the memorial, especially if they are using Ancestry.com, since it looks for that information. I am not
recommending places of birth and death for her husband because I have not found that information.
As for this information re Sophia, it actually comes from the lady herself! As noted in the preface of the Gerardy book I mentioned, Sophie, together with her daughter Gladys Younglove Hudson, worked very closely on family
history with my aunt Grace Potter and her daughter Evelyn Grace Park, and they contributed much information to the Gerardy book. So I think we can rely on that information. Here are the vital stats that Sophie and Gladys
provided:
Sophie Gerardy, dau. of Gabriel and Susan (Huss) Gerardy,
was b. April I, 1880, near Geary, Ks., and d. Sept. 21 , 1950, at Wathena, Kansas. Buried Rosedale Cemetery. She was a teacher. Married May 4, 1910, at Wathena, Ks., to Isaac Riley Younglove, b. Feb. 18, 1879, at Victor, Mitchell Co., Ks., the son of Adam Sanford Younglove and Nancy E.
Price. Farmer. He died Oct. 11, 1969, at Troy, Ks. Buried Rosedale Cemetery. They had two children: Gladys Marguerite and Ralph Adam.
