Gabriel Gerardy, Jr., was born Nov. 27,1870, near Geary, Doniphan County, Kansas, and died Aug. 22, 1948, at Atchison, Kansas. The son of Gabriel Nicolas Gerardy and Susan Huss, he was buried Aug. 25 , 1948, at Rosedale Cern., Doniphan Co., Ks. He was a blacksmith by trade. He married December 20 , 1896, Adelia Grace, who was born April 23 , ____ , and died April 9, 1951. She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Brown County , Kansas. Gabriel and Adelia were divorced about 1920.

Obituary from the Atchison Globe, Monday August 23, 1948:

Gabriel Gerardy, 77, veteran blacksmith, died last evening at 7:30 o'clock at the Atchison hospital where he had been a patient since, Friday. He had been ill with a heart condition the past seven weeks. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Stanton & Stanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Cordonier cemetery northeast of Atchison. The body will remain at the funeral home.

The son of Gabriel and Susan Gerardy, Gabriel Gerardy was born Nov. 30, 1870 at Geary in Doniphan county [Kansas]. He was reared in that vicinity and opened a blacksmith shop at Bendena, which he operated for a number of years. He later moved to Wathena and resided there from 1918 until 1933, when he moved to Atchison. He operated a blacksmith shop in the building where his son, Bob Gerardy operates a fender and body shop at 724 Kansas avenue.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Barbara McKay of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Freda Odell, Rayville, Mo., and Mrs. Ike Younglove, Wathena; and four brothers, John and Mike Gerardy, Wathena, and Bernard and George Gerardy, Atchison.

Pallbearers will be Loren Glenn, Adam Hellmer, Martin Schappler, Frank Idol, Edward Teichman and Herman Teichman.
